Bharti Airtel today reported 27% rise in consolidated net profit for quarter ended September 2008 at Rs 2,046 crore as against Rs 1,614 crore in the correponding quarter a year ago.
According to a release issued by Bharti to the BSE today, the group's total revenues as per US GAAP increased 42% to Rs 9,020 crore from Rs 6,337 crore for the quarter ended September 2007.
Bharti Airtel's subscriber base increased by 57% to 7.99 crore and maintained its leadership position through an improved market share of all India wireless subscribers at 24.6% as against 23.4% in the corresponding quarter.
Commenting on the results and performance, Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman and managing director, Bharti Airtel, said "With record customer additions every month, Airtel continues to consolidate its leadership position in the market. The successful launch of DTH service has provided another opportunity to the brand to strengthen it's connect with the customers, while generating a new reveneue stream."
