Bharti Airtel, Verizon join hands to offer video conferencing solutions
As part of this partnership, Airtel will offer secure enterprise-grade video conferencing solutions under the brand name Airtel BlueJeans to enterprise customers in India
Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced its partnership with USA’s Verizon to offer seamless videoconferencing solutions to businesses in India. This announcement comes within weeks of rival Reliance Jio launching a similar service.
Airtel will offer secure enterprise-grade videoconferencing solutions under the brand name — Airtel BlueJeans — for Indian customers.
BlueJeans, Verizon’s enterprise-grade videoconferencing service in collaboration with Airtel, will offer an integrated audio solution, giving its customers convenient dial-in options to join the meetings. The service will help people communicate and collaborate across mobile, desktop, browser, and conference rooms, while meeting the stringent security needs of banks, health care providers and other organisations.
The offer includes a cloud point of presence in India, enabling low latency and improved quality of service for India-based customers, an official statement said.
The technology will be fully integrated with Airtel’s network, including its data centres, to ensure customers are offered a state of the art, reliable and secure customer experience. The company claims that the new platform supports call conferencing with up to 100 people and meetings can go up to 24 hours without any interruption.
“Companies of all sizes around the world have seen the requirement for reliable, high-quality videoconferencing services and require trusted partners to ensure the highest level of security,” said Hans Vestberg, chief executive officer of Verizon.
“Airtel BlueJeans is a highly differentiated videoconferencing solution that sets the benchmark with its high levels of security and ease of use. We are looking forward to build a deep partnership with Verizon to serve the needs of emerging digital India,” said Gopal Vittal, managing director and chief executive officer of Bharti Airtel.
Vittal said the service would be free for users for the first three months after which they would be charged according to the plan. Apart from the enterprises, the application will also be available for individual customers in the future. Airtel, which is a significant player in Africa, may also extend this service in that geography soon.
