Bharat Heavy Electricals (Bhel) today said it had bagged two export contracts worth Rs 900 crore in Oman.The two power projects on a turnkey basis are for Petroleum Develpoment Oman (PDO), a company majority owned by Oman government and the balance with Royal Dutch Shell, partexand total, Bhel said in a statement.The orders include setting up of two gas turbine based projects with 2x126 MW power plant at Mukhaizna and 1x126 MW power plant at Qam Alam, it said, adding the gas turbines to be installed for PDO are of the largest unit rating.The scope of the project includes design, supply, civil construction and commissioning of these project and both the projects are to be completed in 23 months time, the release added.With the order, Bhel supplied set will account for 40% of PDO's installed generating capacity, it said.This is the third gas turbines based power projects order from PDO and comes after a successful completion of the 140 MW gas turbine based Qarn Alam Power Project in 2004 and 90 MW gas turbine based Hubara Power Project for PDO Oman in 2000, it said.This is the sixth power project being put up by Bhel in Oman, which is a stronghold for its export market.Apart from this, the PSU is currently executing three orders for their compressors in Oman. It has so far secured orders close to Rs 1,600 crore from the PDO in their seven years of association, it said.
