BHEL bags order for transformers from Adani Power

Transformer manufacturer Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged a Rs 81 crore contract to manufacture and supply generator transformers for a power project, the second order bagged by the company in a month’s time.

The 1,980 MW Tirora Thermal Power project is being commissioned by Adani Power Maharashtra Ltd (APML), while the order has been placed by Powergen Infrastructure, the company said in a release here today.

The present order envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply and installation of 10 numbers 270 MVA, 400 kV single-phase generator transformers. The company intends to make the transformers at its Bhopal plant.

Supplies will commence in December 2010 and the contract will be completed by December 2011, it said.

In February, the company had bagged an order for the supply of 7 single-phase generator transformers from NTPC for its Barh Thermal Power Project.
