Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has bagged a Rs 241 crore order from North Eastern Electric Power Corporation to set up the 600 mw Kameng Hydro Electric project in Arunachal Pradesh.The run-of-the river project in West Kameng district, on Bichom and Kameng rivers, involves setting up four units of 150 mw each and is scheduled to be completed in 54 months, a Bhel release said today.As per the order, Bhel will manufacture, supply, install and commission hydro-turbines, generators, microprocessor based controls and balance of plant.Turbines, generators and main inlet valves for the project would be built at Bhel's Bhopal unit, while the controls system would be manufactured at the Bangalore-based electronics division.Bhel's power sector (eastern region) division will commission the project, the release said.The company outbid a German multinational to bag the project, it said, adding with this project, Bhel has maintainted 100% share in the installed hydropower generation capacity of Neepco.
