Power equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has bagged Rs 3,900 crore contract for supply and installation of main plant package to generate 1,500 MW power in Maharashtra, taking the total order book to over Rs 20,000 crore in a single year.The order placed by Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (MAHAGENCO) is for one 500 MW unit at Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station (TPS) expansion project and two 500 MW units at Bhusawal TPS expansion project, BHEL said in a statement today.These units, slated for synchronisation during the 11th Plan, would add 36 million units every day to the grid on commissioning.Khaperkheda and Bhusawal TPS are already equipped with four and two BHEL-built units of 210 MW each respectively.The company is presently executing orders for the main plant package for four 250 MW units for MAHAGENCO, two each at New Parli and Paras TPS expansion projects.So far, BHEL has bagged 47 orders for 500 MW rating sets of which 27 have been commissioned.
