State-run power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals today said it has won a Rs 400 crore contract for setting up a hydro power project in African country Rwanda.
The company has received the order for setting up 2x14 Mw Nyaborongo Hydro Electric Power Project from the Republic of Rwanda government, the company said in a statement.
The scope of work in the project includes execution of hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical packages for the project. It would supply hydro turbines, generators, transformers, controls, monitoring and protection system and switchgear.
Meanwhile, the company recently bagged a Rs 200 crore order for setting a hydro-electric power project in Vietnam.
Bhel will execute the project at Muong La, 350 kilometres north of Hanoi and is expected to complete by the end of 2010.
The project includes two Pelton type hydro-generating units of 100 Mw each.
