Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) today announced an impressive 52%increase in net profit at Rs 1,002 crore in 2004-05 when compared with Rs 658 crore in the previous fiscal.Announcing the unaudited financial results, BHEL CMD A K Puri said turnover crossed the Rs 10,000 crore-mark for the first time, and stood at Rs 10,520 crore, up 21% from the previous year's Rs 8,662 crore.He also announced plans to enhance the annual manufacturing capacity to 10,000 MW from the existing 6,000 MW at an investment of about Rs 1,000 crore.The expansion would be completed by 2007, Puri said, adding "During the year gone by, BHEL secured orders worth Rs 18,016 crore for domestic and overseas markets, taking the total outstanding order book to Rs 31,800 crore."
