According to a press release issued by the company here, these indigenous heat exchangers will shortly fly on-board the Tejas for the first time in the country.

This is the second batch of heat exchangers developed by company that have been awarded the Flight Clearance, and the BHPV has thus passed another milestone in its efforts to win a place among the select few suppliers of high-tech state-of-the-art aerospace equipment of international standards, the press release added.

The five heat exchangers cleared for flight are: 'Second heat exchanger', 'Regenerative Heat Exchanger', 'Reheater', 'Condenser' and the 'Liquid-Air Heat Exchangers'.

In order to qualify for the certification, each of these heat exchangers had to undergo and pass a series of pre-flight qualification tests after manufacture, the press release said.

According to press release, BHPV has designed and developed all the ten types of compact, light alloy, high performance heat exchangers for the Tejas under a contract from the Aeronautical Development Agency.

These heat exchangers play vital roles in maintaining the controlled environment for the pilot and preventing the hydraulic and lubricating oils in the aircraft from excessive heating during flight, the BHPV release added.
