Big Bazaar, India’s largest hypermarket chain and part of the Future Group, is going to expand its operations in Chhattisgarh.

The company is eyeing on the Industrial belts in the state and the cities to start the business. The industrial cities including Korba and Raigarh are top in the list of the company.

The industrial city of Bhilai that houses Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)’s flagship steel plant is soon going to have a Big Bazaar shop. The company has selected a site and is planning to start the shop at the earliest in the steel city.

“We (the Future Group) are very bullish about Chhattisgarh and the company is planning to expand its operation in different parts of the state,” Naveen Singh, Area Manager of the company, said here on Wednesday. The Big Bazaar at present has four shops in the state.

Singh said the company saw a good scope of expansion in the state and had started working on the plan. He said the industrial belts would be the potential pocket once the infrastructure was developed and people started living in the area. The Big Bazaar had been keeping an eye on such centres.

The Big Bazaar had started the preparation to make the national event ‘Days Maha Bachat’ a grand success in Chhattisgarh. The event is starting from August 10 and will end on August 15.

“True to its commitment of offering big savings every year, ‘Days Maha Bachat’will have an exciting array of attractive offers and discounts,”Singh said.
