With this expansion drive McDonald will sell its products through 22 outlets in the western region itself.

McDonald's is also finally devoting some attention to the long ignored Southern region and will open a restaurant in Bangalore by mid-2004.

"We have been studying the southern market for some time now and have zeroed in on Bangalore finally. We will operate there through a franchisee who will get all the support from us. We will concentrate all our southern region expansion in Bangalore for some time before looking at the other metros," said Amit Jatia, managing director, McDonald's India, western region.

The new outlets will be setup with an investment of Rs 2-2.5 crore per restaurant plus real estate expenses.

Only one out of the four new Mumbai outlets will be located in local mall and none of them will be located in areas where McDonald's has already established its presence.
