The battle between the Birla families and Rajendra Lodha over the will of Priyamvada Birla saw a fresh development in the city civil court of Kolkata as the court permitted Birla Corporation (BCL) to move three vehicles from the garage of Birla Park, the residence of the late Priyamvada Birla and other Birla families.Responding to a suit filed by Birla Corporation, the flagship company of the M P Birla group, against Madho Properties (MPL), the 7th bench of the court passed an ex-parte, ad-interim order of temporay injunction restraining MPL from obstructing representatives of Birla Corporation from moving the three cars.The vehicles are - a 2001 Honda City (with the licence plate number WB02N4911), a 1995 Maruti Esteem (WB02D3382) and a 2003 Maruti 800 (WB02Q3421) from Birla Park situated at 19C, Gurusaday Road in Kolkata.Birla Corporation filed the suit against MPL on the ground that Priyamvada Birla, as chairperson of the company, had used the cars for her own purpose. It was alleged in the suit that after the death of Priyamvada Birla, Birla Corporation representatives attempting to use the vehicles from the complex had been obstructed by the employees and representatives of MPL.It was also stated in the suit that three general diaries were lodged in the local police station against the action of MPL staff.It was further stated in the suit that by not allowing Birla Corporation to take back the cars, MPL had caused subtantial loss and damage to Birla Corporation.
