Bottled water major Bisleri is looking to settle out of court the dispute with Coca-Cola on the use of the 'Maaza' brand outside the country by the Atlanta-based soft drinks giant.

"We would like to solve the matter through discussion, I have met the officials of Coca-Cola some time ago and communicated to them that we would not like to fight in courts," Bisleri International Chairman Ramesh Chauhan told PTI over phone.

"We are businessmen, we are supposed to do business not fight court battles," he added.

When contacted, Coca-Cola spokesperson confirmed that the company has received a request to settle the matter out of court.

"In light of the injunctions passed by the Delhi High Court... Ramesh Chauhan has approached Coca-Cola Company requesting for a settlement," the spokesperson said.

The matter is scheduled for hearing in September, 2009.

"The Coca-Cola Company has not yet formally responded to this request for a settlement from Ramesh Chauhan. As this matter is sub-judice, we will not comment further," the Coca-Cola spokesperson said.
