After updating the 3 Series earlier this year, German luxury car maker BMW on Wednesday launched the face-lift of its GT sibling, the 3 Series Gran Turismo in Pune priced at Rs 43.30 lakh (Sport Line), ex-showroom Delhi. BMW showcased the updated car at the 2016 Paris Motor Show recently.

The car is offered in two designs-Sport Line and Luxury Line with both petrol and diesel variants. The Luxury Line is priced at Rs 46.50 lakh and Rs 47.50 lakh respectively.

So far this year, BMW India launched few models like new X1, the 520d M Sport and petrol-powered versions of the 3 and 5 Series. It claims 3GT is a unique product as of now, since there are no direct rivals from Audi, Mercedes-Benz or Volvo.

Indirectly, it competes with the likes of the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Jaguar XE. The GT is eyeing at adding a dose of practicality to the sporty version of a sedan.

"The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo established a new vehicle concept in segment and became trailblazer with its unique and modern character.  It serves up its blend of luxury class elegance, sportiness and speciousness in more sophisticated form," said, Frank Emanuel Schloeder, President (acting), BMW Group India.

BMW's plant in Chennai has a annual production capacity of 14000 units. Currently, it has a dealership network of 41 dealers across India.

The four-cylinder engine will be paired to the ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic that channels power to the rear wheels.
