BMW India has launched their latest product the new BMW X3 Crossover SUV in Pune on Friday. It comes in two diesel variants, BMW X3 xDrive20d and BMW X3 xDrive30d priced at Rs 41,20,000 and Rs 47, 90,000 respectively. The X3 will be CKD produced (Completely Knocked Down). BMW is eying to sell 100 units per month.
BMW's Chennai plant has introduced a second shift and increased its production capacity to 11,000 units per year. The deliveries of the new BMW X3 xDrive20d will start in September and of the new BMW X3 xDrive30d in October. According to the company, up to 1200 additional jobs will be created in the BMW India dealer and service network.
Speaking on this, Andreas Schaaf, president, BMW India said, "Luxury car market in India is growing rapidly and it is expected to grow ten times in the next ten years and expected to sell 1.5 lakh units per year. India will be one of the top ten market for luxury car manufacturers. The first-generation BMW X3 was the pioneer in its segment. We are confident that the second generation BMW X3 will inherit the position of its predecessor as the benchmark and will strengthen it further. We have not seen any decline in the sales and have increased production capacity and introduced second shift in Chennai plant."
