The Rs 235-crore Bodal Chemicals, an Ahmedabad-based company, will expand its production capacity by setting up a unit at Vadodara and acquiring a unit in Panoli.

The company has also acquired a running plant of Angreji Nitro Products at Panoli near Ankleshwar.

Suresh Patel, chairman and managing director of Bodal Chemicals, said, "We will have a gross production capacity of 800 tonnes per annum at our Vadodara unit. The increasing demand in the international market is the prime reason for our expansion plans."

The upcoming unit will produce dye intermediates at Vadodara and will commence production in the next two years.

The company has acquired about 36 acres of land in Vadodara for the production of various kinds of dyes and dye-intermediates and it will be a backward integration of acids plants, Beta Nepthol and H Acids.

The company exports 70 per cent of its total production to counties like US, UK, Germany, Spain, Turkey, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Korea, Greece, Egypt, Portugal, Hong Kong, Italy, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
