Bombay Rayon starts work on apparel unit

Bombay Rayon Fashions, part of the Bombay Rayon Group, will set up a Rs 160 crore integrated textiles and garment project at the Doddaballapur Apparel Park, 30 km from here.

The company has bought 20.26 acres of land in the industrial township developed by the state. The Bangalore unit, cleared by the state high-level committee will have production facilities for yarn, for dyeing and weaving. It has the capacity to process about one lakh metres per day and stitch 22,000 pieces per day.

The total cost of the project is envisaged at Rs 161.72 crore as per the detailed techno-economic feasibility prepared by Gherzi Eastern Ltd. The implementation of the project is on the verge of commencement and the project is slated to be onstream by March, 2006.

"The group has a strong presence in fashion fabrics and garment segment by exclusively catering to various global brands from Europe and US like C&A, DKNY, Liz Claiborne, Wrangler (VF Group), Federated Stores, Tom Tailor, Guess and Kiabi," said chairman Janardan Agrawal.

"With multi-fold expansion of garment capacity on the anvil, the company is in an advanced stage of negotiations with other premium labels in international market," he added.

Bombay Rayon Group, established by Janardan Agrawal in 1986, has fashion fabrics manufacturing units in New Mumbai, Silvassa, Sonale and Bangalore fully backed by the facilities of product development, design studio and efficient sampling infrastructure to provide quality service to its customers in India and abroad.

On Friday, chief minister Dharam Singh laid the foundation stone for the unit.

"The main reason for the company to attract well-known names in fashion garments, is the group's ability to offer fabric collections based on seasonal fashion trends and colour choices, expertise in design of fabrics as specified by the customers, garment designs and samples meeting the stringent quality required by discerning customers in Europe and US," said Agrawal.

The apparel park at Doddaballarpur has been modelled on international lines with modern infrastructure and dedicated power and water supply and common effluent treatment plant.

Other companies setting up units at the park include Raymonds, Himatsingka Seide, Gokaldas Images and others.
