Auto component manufacturer Bosch Ltd on Friday informed the BSE that workmen at its Bangalore plant have resorted to an illegal ‘tool down’ strike from end of first shift of March 07, 2013, without giving any prior notice to the management.

The filing also said that efforts are on to resolve the matter with the Union and restore normalcy at the earliest.

"The workmen of Bangalore plant have resorted to an illegal ‘tool down’ strike w.e.f. end of first shift of March 07, 2013, without giving any prior notice to the management. Efforts are in hand to resolve the matter with the Union and restore normalcy at the earliest," the statement said.

According to reports, more than 2,500 workers at the company's plant in Adugodi in Bangalore went on an indefinite 'tool-down' strike in protest against the suspension of a worker on Thursday.

The strike is the second instance in less than 18 months.

Earlier, in 2011, the workers had launched a ‘tool-down’ strike to protest the move to outsource certain jobs by the company.

The company termed the strike as illegal as the union has not served a 7-day strike notice to the management.

On the BSE, the company's shares are trading at Rs 8,281.00, up 0.04%, in the morning trade.
