Bosch Group company Blaupunkt has forayed into truck and coach entertainment segment in India. |
"We supplied 900 basic systems (radio and microphone) to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation last year on a trial basis. This year we are going to approach all coach manufacturers," Blaupunkt Deputy General Manager, Car Multimedia, Ajay Sawhney told reporters at the Auto Expo here. |
He said the company, which was already into car entertainment systems, had done a business of Rs one crore with the KRSTC last year. |
"In 2006, the focus will be on approaching all potential customers," Sawhney said. The company expects to do a business of Rs 2-4 crore through truck and coach entertainment systems in 2007, he added. |
The entry-level price of these systems is about Rs 25,000. |
When asked about the stiff competition the company was going to face from the grey market, Sawhney said, "Our USP will be quality and reliability. Our systems will last as long as the coaches or the buses." |
"The market is currently catered by the unorganised sector but we have designed these radios specifically keeping in mind the 24-V range that form the basis of the entire in-truck product variety," he said. |
The company today launched a range of audio and video systems for information and entertainment for coaches with a wide range of options- DVD video players to TV tuners and coach monitors. |
