Bosch India inaugurates new facility in Chennai

Bosch India, leading supplier of technology and services, today inaugurated its 15th manufacturing facility in India. The new facility is spread over in two acres of land located at industrial belt of Oragadam in Chennai.

The company did not disclose investment and capacity details. Located inside Indospace SKCL Industrial Park, the new facility will manufacture products for Bosch's Power Tools business division.

The manufacturing facility of Power Tools in India will manufacture products such as angle grinders, impact and rotary drills, rotary hammers, marble cutters, air blowers including motors for all the tools.

Commenting on this development, Steffen Berns, managing director of Bosch Ltd. and President of Bosch Group in India, said that in line with company's local-for-local strategy, this plant will cater mainly to the requirements in India. It will also export small portion to Asia, Middle-East and Africa.

The new location also provides us with more options to ramp up capacity in the medium-term based on the needs of the Power Tools business, he said.

Panish P K, Regional Sales Director of Bosch Power Tools, India added that this facility owing to a higher capacity and localisation, enables improved flexibility and a shorter lead time.

Located at, Oragadam - Walajabad road, the plant is 37 km from Chennai International Airport and is in close proximity to the Bosch Central Distribution Center.

Bosch Group in India employs over 29,000 associates and generated consolidated revenue of about Rs 15,250 crore in 2014 of which Rs 10,800 crores from third party.

The Group in India has close to 12,000 research and development associates and has filed for around 150 patents in 2014. In India, Bosch Limited is the flagship company of the Bosch Group. It earned revenue of over Rs 9,570 crore in 2014.
