The Power Tools Division of Bosch Group, a global manufacturer of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods and building technology products, today launched its first fully-designed and made in India power tool, the Blower GBL 800E Professional, for both the domestic and export markets.

The product has applications in both industrial and household use, such as cleaning of machines and equipment in industries, workshops, workbenches, ventilation grills, blowing of husk at rice, pulse, cotton and spinning mills, air conditioning and refrigeration segment among others.

The company has set up a new manufacturing line in Bangalore to produce the new power tool with an annual capacity of 100,000 units. It has already bagged an order for 50,000 units from the domestic market.

The product will also be manufactured for global markets exclusively in Bangalore, said Vijay Pandey, country head, Bosch Power Tools India.

The product is manufactured on the new lean manufacturing line built on the Bosch Production System principles, and was developed by the R&D team in Bangalore.

The air blower is fitted with an electric motor coupled with an impeller. As the impeller (a rotor inside a tube to increase the pressure and flow of a fluid) rotates, the air entrapped between the impeller blades, i.e. the air that is drawn from the atmosphere into the fan casing, is radially and circumferentially accelerated.

With the launch of this blower, Bosch expects to improve its position in the power tools market in the country, which is estimated at Rs 450 crore and growing at 10-15 per cent annually. For the current year, Bosch is expecting a double digit growth, Pandey said.

Bosch has 400 sales and service centres across the country. It is also looking at selling this product through specialised malls other than existing dealers, he said. The company offers more than 2,000 accessories compatible with its power tools in India.
