Bosch Rexroth will set up knowledge centres in automation technologies at 16 educational institutions in the state.
To start with, one centre of excellence (CoE) at College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram and one centre of skill development at Government Polytechnic, Kalamassery will be set up.
The centres will be either at the level of centre for excellence or centre of competence. CoEs will provide hands on training in hydraulics, pneumatics, sensorics, motion logic controllers, mechatronics and robotics. In future, they would offer PG and research programmes in automation technologies. The collaboration has been designed as a public-private partnership model.
The total cost for setting up one CoE is estimated at Rs 5.38 crore and that of Centre of Competence-cum-skill development will be around Rs 4.39 crore.
The state government through its Emerging Kerala initiatives, has been able to attract some of the world's biggest corporate groups to associate in the skills training programme for graduates and post-graduates, an official release said.
A memorandum of understanding will be signed between the Kerala government and Bosch on March 5.
