Initially, one centre of excellence at College of Engineering Trivandrum and one of skill development at the Government Polytechnic, Kalamassery will be set up, the company, which is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Bosch Rexroth AG of Germany, said in a statement.
The scheme is targeted to make 3 lakh students in the under graduate level skilled with hands on experience with real work situations, it said.
A MoU on technical collaboration between the Higher Education Department of the state government and Bosch Rexroth India, would be signed later today, by K M Abraham, state's Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) and Peter Gorzyza, Director, Drive Control Academy Germany from the Bosch Rexroth Group, it added.
The Centres will provide hands on training in Hydraulics, Pneumatics, PLC's, Sensorics, Motion logic controllers, CNC Control systems, Mechatronics and Robotics, it said.
In future, these Centres will be able to start PG and research programs in Automation Technologies, increasing employability of students undergoing training, it said.
The total expenditure in setting up one Centre is estimated at Rs 5.38 crore and that of one Centre of Competence-cum-skill development centre will be around Rs 4.39 crore, the statement said.
