The noise factor at our airports is something that is difficult to manage, what with the population travelling by air growing by the day. But the inaudible announcements part definitely is. At least, that's what Bose Corporation believes.

New Delhi-based audio technology major Bose Corporation India Private Limited, that provides audio solutions ranging from music systems and speakers to sound masking solutions for IT companies, is betting big on the aviation industry.

Bose provides a unique solution for airports that helps in getting announcements done in an efficient way.

"The solutions that we offer not only ensure delivery of high amount of speech intelligence but also enable studying the speech intelligence even before it is actually implemented," Ratish Pandey, general manager, Bose Corporation (India) says.

This means that the computer-based solution guarantees that based on the noise level existing at that time, the sound quality of the announcements also changes automatically.

"We have a system wherein we show to our clients, how the sound levels will get adjusted at departure or arrival halls, even without actually implementing it at the airport," Pandey says, adding that this means that the client can check the sound system even without the airport infrastructure being ready.

This system, therefore, enables testing of the sound quality in various ambient noises so that the announcements that are made are clear and audible and adjust to changing noise levels.

Bose has already implemented these customised sound solutions at airports in Agra and Jammu and is bidding for a few more airports, besides two being under execution. The upcoming Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad is one of the airports that Bose is bidding for.

"We have a good back-end support which ensures that the system is running 24x7," he says. Incidentally, Bose also provides sound-masking solutions for pilots and frequent flyers with its acoustic noise cancelling head-set.

Bose Corporation is expecting good business in the coming few years from the hospitality and tourism sector too.

It is already in talks with the existing and upcoming hotels in Hyderabad to provide its range of professional audio systems. This is one of the reasons why Pandey is expecting its revenues from the city to double this year.
