BPL unit to commission 300 MW power station in Chhattisgarh

Consumer products maker BPL Ltd today said it has entered into an agreement with the Chhattisgarh government for commissioning a 300 MW coal-based power station in the state.

The project will be implemented by Bharat Energy Ventures Ltd, a subsidiary of the company, BPL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The commissioning of the power station is subject to obtaining necessary approvals, coal allotment acquisition of land and clearances from the applicable authorities, BPL said.

The company did not disclose any financial detail in this regard.

Shares of BPL surged nearly 5 per cent on the BSE, the maximum permissible gain in a single day on the bourse, to Rs 40.20.
