Brahmaputra Infra-led JV wins Rs 5.3K cr contract from NTPC

This project marks BIL foray as a mines developer operator for coal mining projects

Brahmaputra Infrastructure today said a consortium led by it has won Rs 5,338.42-crore contract from power major NTPC to develop and operate coal mines in Jharkhand.

The order worth Rs 5,338.42 crore has been awarded from NTPC for development and operation of Chattibariatu coal mining block in Hazaribag, Jharkhand, for a period of 24 years in consortium with BLA Projects Pvt Ltd and GSCO Infrastructure, with BIL as the lead member, Brahmaputra Infrastructure (BIL) said in a statement.

This project marks BIL foray as a mines developer operator (MDO) for coal mining projects and a significant addition to its ongoing mining projects involving bulk material handling and development of mine infrastructure, it said.

BIL Managing Director Manoj Kumar Prithani said, "This order value is one of the highest for any domestic MDO issued by a public sector company. This order is in line with our existing business activities. We have got a huge opportunity to prove our capabilities as an MDO and increase our topline from the issue,"

BIL is an infrastructure development company and provides engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for such projects.
