Britannia Q1 net up 4% at Rs 43 cr

Net sales of the company rose to Rs 1,221.62 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, from Rs 1,102.97 crore during the same period

Food products major Britannia Industries today posted 3.94% increase in net profit at Rs 43.45 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2012.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 41.80 crore during the same period of previous fiscal.

Net sales of the company rose to Rs 1,221.62 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, from Rs 1,102.97 crore during the same period of 2011-12 fiscal, Britannia Industries said in a filing to the BSE.

"We continue to work on three priority areas revenue management, cost management, and innovation to improve the operational performance of all our categories, biscuits, bread, cake, rusk and dairy, both in India and overseas," Britannia Industries Managing Director Vinita Bali said.

Shares of Britannia Industries were trading at Rs 462.45 on the BSE in late afternoon trade, down 2.36% from its previous close.
