British award for Asian Paints plant

The plant has been awarded a five-star ratings, the company said. The award will be presented to the company in the Goldsmiths Hall, London, on November 28.

The 'Sword of Honour', considered as the highest achievement in safety across the world, is presented to 40 safest companies in the world in every November, the company said.

The minimum criterion is a five-star rating during the BSC Health and Safety Management System audits which is a minimum 92 per cent safety score.

Asian Paints manufacturing facilities at Patancher in Andhra Pradesh and Bhandup in Maharashtra also received this award, the company said.

P M Murty of Asian Paints (India), said, "We have always endeavored to be the best in all areas of manufacturing. Receiving this global award in safety is a recognition for the kind of work and investment we have made continuously in manufacturing."

The Ankleshwar plant, located at the GIDC industrial estate, was commissioned in 1981.

The factory, spread over an area of 66,812 square metres, produces enamels, emulsion paints, distemper, chemical-resistant paints, automotive refinishes, powder coatings and other industrial paints.

Apart from these finished products, the plant also manufactures resin intermediates, meant only for internal consumption, but also to cater to the requirements of other plants of the company.

A wide range of trade paints and resins are also produced for overseas markets.
