It has been an eventful journey for Kazutada Kobayashi, the newly appointed chief executive officer of Canon India. After leading Canon in various roles for 32 years, he will now become the India CEO in one of the fastest-growing markets for the company.
Kobayashi, who has the experience of watching the company’s operations closely in other geographies, is confident of growing the brand presence of Canon in India further. “India holds tremendous potential and is one of the fastest growing economies of the world. These are exciting times not only for the brand but also for the industry as a whole and I am excited and honoured to take up this assignment,” the newly appointed CEO said.
Canon, under his leadership, is expected to further its focus on bringing innovative products and solutions here. Alok Bharadwaj, senior vice-president, Canon India commented: “I am sure that being a veteran in the field, he will ensure greater momentum and growth for Canon in India. His global experience will further accelerate the knowledge and learning of the leadership team to help in moving up the ladder in our market leadership.”
Prior to becoming the India head, Kobayashi was the President and CEO of Canon Hong Kong where he was responsible for overseeing the company’s operations in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, Macau and Mongolia.
Kobayashi began his career with Canon immediately after he graduated from the Keio University Political Science Department’s Law Faculty in Tokyo in 1980. He has also spent numerous years working in the company’s various operations in Germany and the Netherlands.
Besides work, Kobayashi is a keen sportsman who enjoys playing tennis, golf and fishing. He is a passionate traveller. His wanderlust had taken him to more than 30 countries around the world.
