Sreehari Seetharamsastry started his career in 1989 as a 'B' grade scientist in Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) as an electronics engineer. Today he is the new Managing Director, India Development Centre, Attachmate Group and will be directly reporting to Somesh Singh, IDC.

Previously, Seetharamsastry worked for Wipro as a senior developer and was part of the company's growth for around 13 years in various roles. In 2008, he joined Novell as director of systems and resource management team at the India Development Centre (IDC) of Novell which was a major contributor to the global product portfolio. With the acquisition of Novell in 2010 by the Attachmate Group he became a part of the new entity.

The appointment of Sreehari Seetharamsastry as head of IDC by Attachmate is an appreciation for a life which spans over a dozen years in planning and managing large software development projects. As torch-bearer for Attachmate in India, with the integration of Novell, Seetharamsastry will be responsible for the R&D activities from a lab which is the biggest of its kind.

According to analysts, Attachmate's plan to buy Novell for around $2.9 billion was the end of an era. Many believe, the latter had created novel products like the Novell NetWare but failed to capitalise on the market. The new company, which has planned a 20 per cent increase in the headcount from the present 450 has invested a lot of confidence in its Indian potential. Sreehari Seetharamsastry will be a key factor responsible for ensuring the unleashing of that potential.
