Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) is setting up its first full fledged call centre at Pune in Maharashtra. Estimated to cost around Rs 1 crore, the proposed call centre is expected to have around 25 agents to help meet its customers demand.
R L Dube, principal general manager, Pune Telecom said: "The proposed call centre for captive purposes will help meet customers demand". BSNL has a small call centre at Indore and plans are afoot to open a similar centre at Surat in Gujarat.
BSNL will also expand its capacity for landline telephone connections during the next financial year. The company hopes to add around one lakh landline phones next fiscal. For the current fiscal, it has already increased capacity for lines by 1.5 lakh.

"In addition to this, Pune Telecom will have a capacity to offer cellular phones to 50,000 users, while the capacity for limited mobility services will be 20,000. The total investment for this purpose is yet to be finalised," Dube added.
The company also plans to launch cellular services and wireless in local loop services in Pune by June and August respectively. By the end of this month, Pune Telecom will also be ready to offer voice over internet protocol (VoIP). Pune is among the six cities identified by BSNL for the launch of its VoIP service.
The telecom provider has already provided optic fibre cable connectivity to 32 commercial buildings which has leased lines and plans to cover around 220 buildings shortly.
