Have you recently graduated from college and need assistance for job placements? Or are you lost regarding your future goals and need mentorship? Fourth Ambit, an online community-building platform for colleges, helps you connect with students, the alumni, faculty and parents under one umbrella.

Founded by Jikku Jolly, Shyam Menon, Ruby Peethambaran, and Rahul Das in 2014, the Bengaluru-based start-up has raised $600,000 (Rs 4 crore) from crowdfunding platform 1Crowd and its investor community.

With over 1,100 college communities on board such as the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Bangalore, IIM-Kozhikode, Manipal University and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai, the start-up aims to enable access to the larger education ecosystem.  From helping a student from the admission stage to providing online courses and entrepreneur access, Fourth Ambit envisages career perspectives and cater for them. Where most colleges hold a yearly meet with the alumni, they conduct online events every month and keep you connected 24x7.

Although the company has grown twofold in terms of revenue, it is yet to achieve breakeven. Besides the investment by 1Crowd and the alumni, they charge between Rs 30,000 and Rs 5 lakh from colleges who register for their product, application or the service package. “Our ultimate aim is an ecosystem where every student and alumnus continues to derive value at every stage of their life through community collaboration,” said Rahul Das, co-founder and chief executive officer.

Treating every educated individual and every educational institution as a potential target, the company aims to expand its footprint across the country.
