Despite the economic slowdown, leading photographic and digital imaging company, Canon (India) Pvt Ltd has earned a revenue of Rs 665 crore in 2008, registering 20 per cent growth in the first eight months of 2009.
"In the first eight months of this year, Canon recorded a revenue of Rs 800 crore and we expect to close the year with a 20 per cent growth," senior vice-president Alok Bharadwaj said here today, while launching Canon's new range of cameras and camcorders for festive season.
Stating that revenue was growing, Bharadwaj said last year's revenue marked 31 per cent growth over 2007.
"Overall, Canon expects to garner a revenue of more than Rs 800 crore this year in its India operation," he said.
Bharadwaj said, Canon was planning new technology value propositions and penetrations into more and more towns in India with its products.
"Canon looks at 200 towns this year, 300 next year and 500 towns in 2011," he said.
Claiming that Canon has a 34 per cent marketshare in India, compared to other leading digital imaging companies, he said "We occupy 30 per cent share in digicam sector in East India alone."
