Power utility company CESC Ltd plans to diversify into other infrastructure areas like roads and ports as a long-term strategy under a new "vision roadmap", according to sources.
"CESC is planning to foray into roads, ports and other infrastructure ventures," sources close to the development told PTI.
"A vision roadmap is under preparation by the company. There are initial plans for a few road projects," the sources said.
CESC is likely to bid for NHAI projects on a build-own-operate model. A final decision on participating in tenders for the projects will be taken once the corporate structure for the new initiatives is finalised.
The company has formed a small group for the new businesses.
CESC appointed Anup Bhargava as president of the new business development division on March 1.
