Eric Schmidt has talked of smartphones that cost $50. But, in India, we have certain phones in that range which help one do a whole lot of things. Phones with apps are available from Indian manufacturers such as Micromax, Lava, Spice, Karbonn, Fly and a host of others. While phones from Nokia's Asha range are a notch above, it does have phones with browsers and apps like Nokia Life Tools. Samsung's Java-based phones also have basic functions.
