Chennai Super Kings eyes Rs 1 cr from product sale

The Chennai Super Kings, promoted by city-based India Cements, is eyeing Rs 1 crore through merchandise sales during the third series of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on March 12.

The team has tied up with Oceanbed Gifts and Merchandise, a Gurgaon-based company that is into gifting and merchandising solutions for corporate, for selling its branded products.

Oceanbed promoter Gayathri Venugopalan said 26 products including sports bottle, 3D mugs, wallets, keychains, mini autograph bats, bags, t-shirts and wristbands would be sold through around 100 points of sales.

“At present, we are selling through 10-15 stores,” he said. The company has tied up with MegaMart, Peter England and Landmark.

“Our major focus will be Tamil Nadu for now,” said Venugopalan. The company is also planning to sell through Internet and by next year would take its merchandise items abroad.

Oceanbed, which registered a turnover of Rs 2 crore, has signed a five-year agreement with CSK.
