Chevening, TCS launch cyber policy scholarship

First course to start in Feb 2014, will be fully residential 12-week programme

Tata Consultancy Services, currently the world’s second-most-valuable IT services company, has joined hands with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK Government to launch the Chevening-Tata Consulting Services Cyber Policy Scholarship. 
 
The scholarship programme will run for an initial period of three years with the first course expected to start in February 2014. It is fully residential 12-week programme, with flights and accommodation provided for.
 
In the first year, six scholars will be chosen on the basis of their relevant skills and experience. They will be drawn from the private sector, government, other public sector, academia, law enforcement and judiciary.

British High Commission in a press statement said that the programme is aimed at benefiting mid-career professionals from India who have the potential to be leaders in their chosen field. 
 
"The programme is aimed at benefiting mid-career professionals from India who have the potential to be leaders in their chosen field," said Shankar Narayanan, Country Head, UK and Ireland, Tata Consultancy Services said:  
 
The course will be run by Cranfield University at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom. Cranfield University provides courses to senior officials and professionals from around the world.  
 
“This course not only covers the technical side of cyber security, but also brings together the related areas of public policy, such as internet governance, national security, crime prevention, and enabling online commerce and freedom of expression,” said the UK Minister for Cabinet Office, Francis Maude MP.
