Troubled by regular bandhs that hit businesses, the business community in the state asked politicians to observe bandhs for half a day only and spare the second half.
This was in the interest of traders and gave respite to people, they explained.
Last week, businesses were shut for two days following bandhs called by different political parties.
On July 3, BJP called a nation-wide strike on Amarnath land issue followed by Congress-backed bandh on July 5 on a local issue.
The loss was for three days as the July 5 bandh was followed by a Sunday.
"It is a good proposal and members will submit the proposal officially," President of Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shrichand Sunderani said.
Politicians should come forward to support the proposal as everyone was affected by bandhs, he added.
According to chamber sources, business of more than Rs 300 crore was lost last week due to bandhs.
