China-based PTS Motors Ltd, in collaboration with Ludhiana-based Techno Bikes, launched battery-operated bikes for the first time in India, in Ludhiana. |
Techno Bikes has purchased marketing rights from China-based PTS Motors Ltd. The four eco-friendly bikes are the Eco sonic, Eco city, Eco sports, Eco Jadu. Their prices are between Rs 17,000 and Rs 29,000. Once charged, the Eco city can cover a distance of 80 km in a single charge, whereas the other three bikes can cover 40 km. The bike will be in the market by the middle of February. PTS Motors Ltd has spent Rs 350-400 crore on the development of these products. |

Six months later, the company will be launch similar products in other parts of India. |

PTS Motors Ltd Regional Director N Jolly said, "We are ready to export 1 million bikes to India in a year. We have sold the marketing rights to Techno Bikes for India. We have been developing this product for three years and have spent Rs 350-400 crore, and have exported around 147,000 bikes of the same make to places like the US, Mexico, Africa, and Europe." Techno Bikes will import 500 bikes from China. |

Techno Bikes CEO Rajiv Setia said, "In one year the company intends to sell around 6,000 bikes throughout the country. In six months we are going to launch this product in UP and Rajasthan, among other states. We have tried to overcome the pollution problem as well. |

The vehicles are provided with dual batteries, which cover 80 km in a single charge." |

"As per the Motor Vehicles Act, vehicles of up to 250 watts need not be registered and no driving licence is required. We will keep introducing new models every three months," Setia said. |

The launch was followed by a fashion show, organised by Studio Model Creators, designed and directed by Sunil Bansal. |
