Industry body CII will train 10,000 people of the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa over the next five years in small business management, information, communication, and technology.
A Memorandum of Understanding in this regard was signed by Sandeep Mishra of Confederation of Indian Industry and Govindan Ragavan of the National Institute of Information Technology (BIIT) and Finance and Economic Affairs Minister, Zweli Mhize, on behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal government, an official statement said.
The partnership aims to use the institute's global experience to improve the province's ICT skills base, which is essential for real economic advancement, the statement said.
Raghavan said the institute would provide the overall curriculum structure, as well as plan and designed the training to suit different educational institutions.
"The curriculum will cover software engineering and application development, network administration and management, game design and development, entrepreneurship, small medium and micro enterprise training, teacher training and ICT-based training."
Mishra said the CII would find internship placement for the students, who would spend a year doing practical learning in India.
