Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), MP Chapter, will set up a Skills Training Park in Chhindwara (400 km from Bhopal) to impart training to local young entrepreneurs and apprentices.
The Union minister for Urban Development Kamal Nath will lay the foundation stone of the park on March 10. The upcoming training park will have more than 10 companies setting up training facilities in various trades, such as construction, engineering, farm and automobile that will equip the local youth of Chhindwara in industry relevant trades, a CII spokesperson informed. Larsen & Toubro, JCB, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Cummins India, Shapoorji Pallonji, Caterpillar, GMMCO, GMR Varalaxmi Foundation, Mahindra & Mahindra and Schneider Electric are among the prominent companies that will impart training to the local youth.
The centre will have a hostel, teaching block and workshop sheds with the capacity to train over 1,600 apprentice in a year. In 2008, CII had set up a skills training centre in the premises of Western Coalfields Ltd. Companies like Punj Lloyd, JCB, Larsen & Toubro and Toyota Kirloskar Motors trained more than 700 local youths in various trades. Many of them are now employed.
