Mumbai-based Cinemax Cinemas will be inaugurating what will be the city's biggest multiplex on Friday. The six-screen theatre is located at a mall in suburban Mumbai (Infiniti Mall, Versova) and will see some firsts as far as multiplexes are concerned. |
For a start, it will have a special lounge called the Red Lounge along with 'Gold' and 'Silver' screens, where apart from the reclining seats, they also have other privileges like a special menu to chose from and restrooms of their own. |
"Our focus has been to constantly innovate and provide an enjoyable movie experience. We look at it as lifestyle enhancement," said Hiral Kanakia, director, Cinemax Cinemas. |
It would also have other facilities like massage chairs and enhanced lighting among other features. The 1,671-seater multiplex has been readied at an investment of Rs 15 crore, and Kanakia feels that it will do well enough to recover the investment in 3 to 5 years, the industry average. |
Although the focus is on luxury, the tickets would not be priced too high with the difference between the special seats and the regular ones being around 40%. |
Cinemax currently operates four multiplexes in Mumbai with two more coming up soon. Apart from this, they also have a presence in Nasik and are moving to Lucknow and Nagpur. |
'We are in the process of finalising something in Indore and are definitely looking at a more national presence over the next few years,' said Kanakia about their expansion plans. |
