Cisco Systems, on Tuesday, launched Network Convergence System (NCS) in India. The company claimed that the new product would help service providers manage the growing data and voice traffic in a better way. It would also help the service providers to offer better services to the end consumers.

“NCS is a powerful solution for service providers who are looking to create robust networks, data centres and applications. This will provide a competitive edge to service providers in India who are currently grappling with multiple challenges,” said Sanjay Rohatgi, MD, Service Provider Sales, Cisco India and SAARC.

In India, services providers face challenges like spectrum crunch, high growth in voice, video and data traffic. The new system, Rohatgi said, would address these issues and would lower the data handling costs up to 45% of service providers as the solution enhances resource utilisation, he said.

“NCS can integrate with Cisco’s management and orchestration software and create a highly programmable network that can provision new services and applications automatically, thus helping service providers drive new revenue models,” said Sanjeev Mervana, Senior Director, Service Provider Products & Solutions, Cisco Inc.

According to Cisco, companies like UK-based Sky, KDDI in Japan and Telstra in Australia, are deploying its new system to create new revenue streams, simplify operations and deliver personalised experiences to their customers.
