CLP Power India Private Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed CLP Holdings Ltd, on Thursday inaugurated its 99 Mega watt (Mw) wind farm near Theni in the state. With this, CLP’s power generation, using wind as source, has gone up to 446 Mw in India.
CLP India earlier entered into an agreement with Vestas Wind Technology India Pvt Ltd, a wind turbine manufacturer, to develop this greenfield project.
The wind farm will be fully commissioned by June end and is expected to qualify as a clean development mechanism (CDM) project under the Kyoto protocol.
The company proposes to sell the entire power generated through this plant to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board under the terms of a 20-year power purchase agreement.
