Company bags similar project in Kerala in coir cluster.
Known for its cluster development expertise, Ahmedabad-based Cluster Pulse has been approached by the J&K government for an international linkages project. As part of it, the firm is required to help weavers in Baramulla develop a cluster and market their woolen carpets internationally
According to Jagat Shah, chief executive officer Cluster Pulse, the project entails training around 400 weaver families in Baramulla in international linkages. "While the woolen weavers in Baramulla have been producing carpets, they hardly earn around Rs 3000-4000 per month. The J&K government has roped in Cluster Pulse to train these families in marketing their products internationally as well as double their incomes every year," said Shah.
Cluster Pulse has also bagged a similar project in Kerala in the coir cluster. The city-based firm will train around 400,000 workers in selling their coir products in the international markets. "Even in Kerala, we are working in association with the World Bank and Coir Board to help the coir cluster learn marketing skills and look at exports seriously," added Shah.
In the recent past, the firm has successfully developed an information and communication technology (ICT) cluster of 23 IT start-ups in Switzerland. "We had been contacted by the IT industry representatives of Switzerland to help them in developing an ICT cluster. We recently completed the cluster development project in Switzerland, which we believe will help these start-ups generate better business," said Shah.
To begin with, the company had conducted a field survey, before preparing a detailed proposal for an ICT cluster. The company has been working on similar projects in countries like China, Uganda, Ghana and Canada.
