Nasdaq-listed Cognizant Technology Solutions has made a record 1,820 job offers to the 2012 batch students of Vellore-based VIT University.
This is the highest number of job offers made by any company, across industries, in a single campus in the country, according to G Viswanathan, chancellor, VIT University.
He said that in the last five years, VIT had been consistently topping the campus recruitments from a single campus, with 789 offers by TCS for the 2008 batch, 1075 (TCS) for the 2009 batch, 803 (TCS) for the 2010 batch, 1643 (Cognizant) for the 2011 batch and 1820 (Cognizant) for the 2012 batch.
The campus placement season at VIT for 2012 batch, which started around end-July 2011, saw more than 40 companies visit VIT the campus. These include Amazon, eBay, Schneider, Thoughtworks, Honda, Maruti, Tata Motors, Google, Netapp, Vmware, Deloitte, National Instruments, Michelin, McKinsey, Ashok Leyland, etc.
201 students have got offers with salaries ranging from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh per annum. Flipkart would be visiting VIT this week with a package of Rs12.5 lakh per annum.
Earlier, Deloitte created a record by recruiting 52 of our students with a CTC of Rs 4.63 lakh per annum, which is the highest number of campus recruitments done by Deloitte across the world.
