Colgate-Palmolive Q2 bottomline up 16%

Colgate-Palmolive India has posted a net profit of Rs 26.97 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2004, up 16.35 per cent from Rs 23.18 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. Net sales have grown 6.5 per cent to Rs 245.69 crore (Rs 230.67 crore).
 
The operating profit ratio for the quarter has increased by 340 basis points to 18 per cent of sales. EBITDA grew by 31 per cent to Rs 44.2 crore over the previous corresponding quarter. Net profit for the half year ended September 30 increased 19 per cent to Rs 52.4 crore (Rs 43.9 crore). Net sales grew 6.7 per cent to Rs 488.4 crore (Rs 457.8 crore).
 
The company had paid a first interim dividend of Rs 20.40 crore (Rs 1.50 per share of face value of Rs 10) in July. It is quoting an earnings per share of Rs 1.98 for the quarter against Rs 1.70 for the previous corresponding period. The stock closed on Wednesday at Rs 145.50, unchanged from the previous day's close.
