Driven by a strong volume growth, oralcare product maker Colgate-Palmolive today posted a 48 per cent jump in its standalone net profit to Rs 114.39 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2010.
The company, which sells toothpaste, toothpowder, toothbrushes and mouthwash under the brand Colgate, had a standalone net profit of Rs 77.07 crore in the same period previous fiscal.
"During the quarter, the company achieved a volume growth of 11 per cent, continuing its strong momentum in the toothpaste category, which also grew by 11 per cent," Colgate Palmolive said in a statement.
Besides, the company said it paid a total dividend of Rs 20 per share for the financial year ended March 31, 2010 as against Rs 15 per share in the previous fiscal.
The company's standalone net sales during the quarter stood at Rs 516.6 crore, up 13 per cent, from Rs 455.4 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
In the year ended March 31, 2010, Colgate-Palmolive had a consolidated net profit of Rs 434.10 crore, up 52 per cent, against Rs 285.78 crore posted in the same period last fiscal.
The consolidated net sales during the period stood at Rs 1,962 crore while it had reported Rs 1,695.2 crore sales in the year-ago period.
