The company is setting up its thermal power project of 2,520 Mw in in Jaithari village of Anuppur district in Madhya Pradesh. The company is investing Rs 7,500 crore in the first phase of the project. It had signed Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) with South Eastern Coalfields Ltd in 2010.
The plant, which is taking shape through a special purpose vehicle Moser Baer Madhya Pradesh Limited (MBMPL), is expected to come up in multiple phases is in proximity of coalfields of South Eastern Coalfields Ltd and is close to power deficit markets of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
"The company has already received environment and other statutory clearances, and it has signed long term PPA (power purchase agreement) of 35 per cent with government of Madhya Pradesh and for 361 Mw from Uttar Pradesh. The commissioning of phase one of the power plant is slated during the third quarter of 2014 with an approximate investment of Rs 7,500 crore," a company source said. "The second unit is expected in Feb-March 2015 and other units are likely to come up in 2016," he added.
"As of now the project has obtained certificate of Hydro test of the unit-2 boiler, which is one of the most critical landmarks towards commissioning of a thermal power plant," the source said and added "Other procedures of testing have been done successfully as per Indian Boiler Regulation guidelines."
The company has said it has achieved critical milestones in terms of land acquisition, coal and water linkage, securing various statutory and other clearances ahead of schedule.
