Companies of Southeast Asia to visit MP: Gaur

Representatives of around 120 corporate houses of Singapore and Malaysia will visit Madhya Pradesh in October to explore business possibilities in various sectors including housing, power and tourism.

The delegation, led by Malaysia's Public Works Minister Dato Semi Velu, would visit the state in October to explore the prospect of setting up units in the field of roads, hydel and thermal power, tourism and food processing, Chief Minister Babulal Gaur told reporters.

"Detailed discussions would be held with the delegation and some memorandum of understanding (MoUs) were also expected to be signed during the visit," Gaur said, after returning from his tour to these countries to attract foreign investment.

After creating necessary infrastructure for themselves, both the countries had expressed desire to use their resources to develop the same for others, he added.

One company in Singapore was interested to invest in the tourism sector by launching a boat, capable of moving on water as well as land, in upper lake of Bhopal, he said.

Claiming that foreign industrialists were pleased at the land offered to them at economical rates, Gaur said a proposal to develop area between Kaliaset and Kerava in Bhopal as tourist destination had come up during a seminar.

Observing that a small nation like Malaysia had developed a network of 40,000 km of roads in the last 20 years, Gaur said foreign investments would give pace to re-densification project of Indore and Bhopal, besides the modernisation of urban roads.

The investments were also likely to be made to develop seminar halls in Indore, Bhopal and Gwalior, he added.
